Businesses don’t grow well in corrupt soils.

The brief was to create a print ad to encourage private companies in Africa to become active participants in the pursuance of good governance in their respective countries.

My partner and I agreed that the concept had to be culturally relevant and connect with the target audience. So, while brainstorming, we remembered a trending 2018 news bulletin in Nigeria about a civil servant who claimed a snake swallowed 36 million Naira she had actually embezzled.

This unfortunate yet hilarious story inspired our visual idea for this competition. We creatively placed that infamous snake on a line graph commonly used in the business world to showing profit margins.

We had barely twenty-four hours to crack this brief but thankfully we got help from our friend and a creative genius, Mariam Omoyele who illustrated the iconic snake on our final entry.
